At the end of August 2021, Tropical Storm Grace ran across the Gulf of Mexico accompanied with very strong winds and rainfall. As a result of this, a lot of silt and sediment from the mountains has settled in the access channel of Tuxpan.
Our client Asiponatux in Tuxpan asked Dragosa and Dutch Dredging to help them to clean up the access channel in December in order to create a minimum required sailing depth to guarantee a safe passage for all the in- and outgoing ships.
To prevent a quick settling of material in the access channel during the storm season, an additional section of approximately 1000 m1 has been deepened with approx. 1 meter. This section functions as sand trap and a safe passage can be guaranteed for a longer period of time.
The project was completed at the end of January 2022.
