About this project

Beach nourishment with a length of approximately 1,600 meters between the hotels Banyan Tree and Rosewood, located in the municipality of Playa Del Carmen, Quintana Roo.

The beach is situated in front of hotel chain “Mayakoba”. This concern consists of five different locations that rent out luxury accommodations for tourism. One of the top requirements was that only 1 location could be closed for a maximum of 5 days. Spraying and raising the beach had to be completed within this period.

The activities consisted of:

• Dredging sand at an extraction site about 7 nm from the beach by a trailing suction hopper dredger
• Pressing the sand through a partly floating pipe and partly land pipe with a length of 700 meters.
